GNOME 3, KDE 4: "We're doing it this way, fuck you, suck it up"

Has the entire Linux desktop development space gone suicidal? Were they just bought off by Microsoft, to make the two most used desktops a complete cluster-fuck?

Seriously, developers, we just want a desktop that works. Keep your bells, whistles, and we don't care about the users to yourselves AND STOP thinking it's okay to shove stuff down our throats. You aren't Microsoft. I'm sorry you feel we the users have to suffer like Microsoft users suffer. Good Bye KDE. Good Bye GNOME.

Which left me hanging. Seriously, I've just pitched out the two most used Linux desktops out there . . .

Linux really needs a "I'm a noob" button, such that it quits asking the user questions we don't have a clue how to answer. (Unless of course we're kernel developers or the like.) Hopefully Mandriva 2010.1 will have a better install interface...
