Linux really needs a "I'm a noob" button, such that it quits asking the user questions we don't have a clue how to answer. (Unless of course we're kernel developers or the like.) Hopefully Mandriva 2010.1 will have a better install interface...

Possibly against my better judgment, I bought a Dell... I guess eight months of looking created enough "shopping fatigue" that pretty much the first company that would have offered what I wanted, even close to my price range, would have gotten my business. And I need something to replace this crippled Frankenstein I'm currently using.

Okay I'll bite, you say you have DIY, build your own laptops, but where exactly is the link to do it?

I've been looking for a replacement laptop since about early September 2009. I'm a programmer type, so I want a good sized (wide) screen with high resolution and a multi core cpu, but I'm not a gamer, so please at least let me dump your glowie junk and other fluff during configuration.
